A complete Shinshu gibier experience!

A movement towards local production and consumption, where all leather and meat are processed within Nagano Prefecture

"Shinshu Gibier Complete Experience" started on July 26th!
We have previously held workshops at Valeur in Nagano City , but this time the workshop was held at Googie's Cafe Chikuma branch in the same city.

Here you can take part in a workshop using deerskin and then enjoy game dishes - this is the complete Shinshu game experience.

Googie's Cafe is a restaurant where you can eat things like hamburgers, steaks, and pizza, so I thought this place should serve wild game dishes, right?! So I made a strong appeal to the CEO of Googie's Cafe, Sako Hiroki!

Actually, we worked together at our previous jobs (American casual fashion brand Flathead Co., Ltd.), so I said to him, "Hey, Sako, let's work together."
"Sure."
It was like this lol.

By the way, the project that Gruber Leather is currently working on is
"Shinshu Deerskin Ethical Carp and JECT"

We have to exterminate the deer that are causing damage to forests and crops. There are still many problems to be solved after the extermination, but what we can do is to turn the deer into leather products, and to stimulate the economy even a little, so that it can be sustained.

And this time we added a counterclockwise rotation to this clockwise cycle.

I think it's pretty easy to understand, and by adding food, it has become an activity where you can experience everything from deer culled in Nagano City to their leather and food.

And so the first "Shinshu Gibier Full Experience" began.

The first step is to put in some coins!
Deer leather is actually not very suitable for hand sewing, in fact it's quite soft and difficult to sew with.
To sew by hand, you first need to make holes with a tool called a diamond punch, but with deerskin it's a little difficult to see where the holes are, and you need to apply a delicate amount of tension when sewing.

Therefore, we attached pig leather to the back of the coin purse for the workshop to increase its length.
Pig leather is also a by-product, as it is the pig skin that we eat.

This is the first coin purse I made!
The bellows gusset dividers make this a cute coin purse with a plump shape.

The material has been cut, and the work will generally take about an hour and a half to two hours to complete.

Before starting work, we explain why we are eradicating pests.

The person on the right in the photo is doing the diamond punching work. They hit it with a hammer to make holes for sewing. (^○^)

The thread is threaded through a needle, but when hand sewing leather, two needles are used for one thread!
It's like the lower thread and upper thread of a sewing machine, but it uses two needles to go up and down... I'd love for you to try it out 😁

The woman on the left in the photo is hand sewing with two needles (^○^)
There is a trick to this as well, as the threads have to be placed one above the other, so everyone gets really serious about this part.

In fact, at that time, people from the Shinano Mainichi Shimbun and prefectural officials came to interview us!!!

Here is the article from the Shinano Mainichi Shimbun!
It was featured in the Kitashin section of the article on July 29, 2022!

And as for the prefectural staff, they were featured on the prefectural government blog, "Nagano Prefecture Charm Promotion Blog"!!!
I've introduced it here so please check it out as it's easier to understand than my blog!!!

The workshop, which included an interview in between, ended with a game spice curry made with venison slaughtered in Nagano City!

The man in the red hat, Mr. Hasama, the owner of Googie's Chikuma store, gave us a detailed explanation of the ingredients we were using this time.
Curry that can be experienced and savoured with all five senses is exquisite!!
To be honest, I tried it too and it was super delicious!!!

At the end you can enjoy frozen yogurt and since the trip is over in the morning, you will have some free time in the afternoon to make the most of your day!

This time's contents 10:00 ~ Workshop: Jabaramachi coin holder Around 12:00 Lunch: Gibier spice curry Around 12:40 Disbanding Fee: 5,000 yen including tax

In addition to holding the event on weekdays, once its popularity dies down, it will also be held on Sundays!!!

It is unclear when the event will be held as it depends on the timing of the Googie's Chikuma branch, but it will be dinner on Sunday!
This means the workshop will start in the evening and we'll have game dishes for dinner!
This looks like it's going to be fun!
