Suzaka City Higashi Junior High School: SDGs Class
It seems that Suzaka City is actively working on issues such as SDGs and zero carbon, and last year we helped out at the Sousei Fair at Suzaka Sousei High School, where SDGs were the topic of discussion .
This time, we received an inquiry from a junior high school in Suzaka.
The children suggested that they would like to make use of leather products such as gloves that are no longer being used in their SDGs lessons. Would you be able to give them some advice?
Of course, there's no reason to refuse.
The teacher in charge and three junior high school students immediately came to the workshop to discuss the matter, but since they were coming from Suzaka, it was not possible for them to come multiple times, and it seemed that it was not as easy as in the past to get them in the teacher's car, so we had a meeting via Zoom.
And then the day arrived.

The items I'll be using are my backpack, shoes, and gloves .
What should I do...?
I brought some unused leather scraps from the workshop and glued them to the back of the bag.
Let's go with this!
Naturally, that will allow the work to proceed.

The items we make are always prepared in the workshop.
After cutting, hooks and other fasteners are attached and sometimes stamped.

Once they understand the basics, everyone tries their best to finish within the time limit!
If it gets too long, the kids will get bored.
It's fun when students ask me things like, "What do you want to do?" My own children are about the same age, so I can work without worrying.

Key holders, key cases, wristbands, coasters, belt loop hooks, coin purses, accessory cases, cord clips
We produced quite a large number!
These will be on sale at the school festival!
They said they would let us know the results of the sales later, so looking back at how they met, I wonder if everyone was happy?
I wonder if the customers will be happy to buy them at the school festival? I'm curious about the children who helped out and the school festival after that (^○^)
It is no ordinary thing to have come across game leather and be able to help people in this way, and although we will of course continue to sell it in the future, when we receive such feedback we would like to prioritize it over our busy schedules with production.
After-sales news has arrived!
This is an email from the teacher.
We were able to successfully sell our leather products at our school's cultural festival which was held the other day.
The activity was well received by other students and parents, and all three students were able to conclude with big smiles on their faces.
I would like to thank you for giving me this valuable experience.
And what a surprise, we received thank you letters from three students!
When I saw this, it reminded me of all the fun times I had with my students, and it warmed my heart and made me feel happy.
There's nothing more satisfying than being appreciated for your work!
I want to continue to work hard to help others in the future.
